Nowra is a nice city, combining country, coastal and city living in one neat package. It is quiet, but not too quiet. There is much to see and do in Nowra - the Aviation Museum, the beaches, etc. Nowra is handy as a base to explore the nearby countryside - like Jervis Bay, Kiama, Shoalhaven, etc.

We visited Nowra and stayed at nearby Jervis Bay, in a place called Callala Beach. This is a fantastic spot -- many great beaches within a short drive or walk, windy days for windsurfing, short drive to surf beaches, and protected beaches for families. It was over 9 hours drive from Melbourne but well worth it! The Callala Beach Pizzeria has fantastic fresh Mama-cooked Italian food at half the price of anywhere else.

We always manage to get down to Nowra about twice a year for camping. It\'s a really nice town ont he Shoalhaven River and beaches are very close. Plenty of places to eat, and shop. Also a good spot for fishing.

Main town for some of the prettier seaside areas such as Callala and Culburra. Nestled between Berry and Jervis Bay, it\'s not very attractive but has supermarkets and banks.

Good place for a day trip or weekend from Sydney, try to go the coast road and come back via Kangaroo valley. Great little seaside villages aswell.

Quick easy trip from Sydney, good weekend getaway and there is still water in the river! Go to Greenwell point for fresh seafood.
